With a long tradition the Carnaval de Manzanillo 2010 (Carnival of Manzanillo) is celebrated year with year for the enjoyment of locals and visiting, showing the hospitable and festive environment that the manzanillences have.

Allegorical cars, dances, music and streets full of fun are only some of the aspects of this festive event, the election of the ugly King and the Queen of the Carnival are just some of the many things that you will see in the beautiful port of Manzanillo.

This year the Carnival will be celebrated in the month of February from the 25-27,taking advantage of the relaxed and fresh climate that has in those dates.

The “Iguanario” on Padre Hidalgo Colony passing downtown Manzanillo has existed for more than 20 years, the population keeps on increasing since in these moments there are more than 120 Iguanas, which live between the branches of trees of Guamúchiles and feed of the existing vegetation in the place, or of what the people throw them, vegetables, fruits and up to meal as chicken, rice and tortillas.

It’s time for the authorities and state tourism to creating an attraction for the national and foreign tourism, since every day the Iguanario receives more animals that integrate to the sanctuary, which is much visited by the people, especially, in the evenings, when the iguanas receive the last beams of the sun, and are allowed to be  photograph in the low part of the branches of the trees. The proprietor of the carpentry and workshop that exists under the trees, thanks to his love that he feel for nature, is that the iguanas keep on growing, existing someone so big that they reach almost two meters long and go so far as to weigh more than 30 kilograms.
This gigantic  iguanas are only in Manzanillo, and there colors are orange, black, gray and green, which are reproduced between them and the population of this species keeps on increasing, after more than 120 iguanas have been taken into account lately, which it constitutes the whole natural spectacle of exceptional beauty, finished.

Barra de Navidad is a small town on the state of Jalisco.  In this very beautiful, singular and historic place begins the zone of beaches, known like Costalegre, that finishes 95 km. to the northwest, near Beach Quémaro.

Hurricane Rick is now a category five storm, churning waters off Mexico’s Pacific coast at 260 kilometers per hour.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said late Saturday that Rick’s wind speeds accelerated, making the storm the highest-rated, most dangerous type of hurricane.

U.S. weather forecasters said Rick was located about 470 kilometers south of the port of Manzanillo, and was moving north at a pace of about 24 kilometers an hour.

They say Rick is an “extremely dangerous” storm and warn it could hit land (the Baja California peninsula) sometime next week.

Forecasters say even though the core of the storm will likely remain offshore for the next few days, Mexico’s southern coast could still be pounded by rains Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Rick is the seventh hurricane of this year’s eastern north Pacific season.
